Fellow Motorcycle Riders,

My name is Dee Dee Decker, I am an employee at Rockford Construction and a motorcycle rider. I am writing this letter to personally invite you to participate in this years Rally for Hope & Hunger to benefit God’s Kitchen and The Van Andel Institute.

Located in the Heartside Neighborhood of Grand Rapids, God’s Kitchen has been providing services to feed and support hungry people with dignity and respect for over 30 years. Many people who come are the working poor. Others are disabled. Some are homeless. For all, this is often their only balanced meal of the day. God’s Kitchen would be unable to serve the approximately 200,000 meals each year without the generosity of donors, and the dedication of the thousands of volunteers who make their work possible.

The Van Andel Institute is an independent research organization dedicated to preserving, enhancing and expanding the frontiers of medical science by focusing on cancer research. Its goals include identifying new cancer genes and their proteins, developing new methods for detecting cancer before it becomes life threatening, and identifying new biological targets for therapeutic intervention.

If you have never ridden in the Rally, I would like to give you a little background. The Rally was founded by owner and CEO of Rockford Construction, John Wheeler. A motorcycle enthusiast himself, John thought, what better way to help out people in need than to get a bunch of bikers together, have some fun and show how caring motorcyclists can be? And the Rally for Hunger was born.

The Rally takes place on Saturday, July 26, 2008.
  • Registration begins at 9:00am at Cannonsburg Ski Lodge
  • 400+ bikes take off from the ski area at 11:00am
  • Ride for about 1 hour to Wabasis Lake Park in Greenville
This is our 9th year and is shaping up to be the best ever. Your registration fee gets you in to a wonderful celebration at Bertha Brock Park. You’ll arrive to the sounds of the Midlife Crisis. There will be food, drinks, bike games, door prizes and an all around great time.

Each year the attendance has grown and our ability to help these worthy charities has increased. I hope your club can participate in this event. If you would like more information call me at 616-285-6933. I hope to see you at the ride.

Thank you,

Dee Dee Decker
